My First Makeup Video

Vlogging...
Not something I normally do,
but one of my final projects
this semester for school
was to create an instructional video.

This was something I had always wanted to
try doing, but was wayyyy too lazy to actually
do.

I had to pretend I was an instructor and
create a 2-3 minute long instructional
video on anything I wanted.

So, of course, I chose makeup :D

I decided to teach how to
do a very simple every day
make up look (I mean it had to be
2-3 minutes long).
So I didn't even put eyeliner on!

I recorded and edited this video with
Imovie on my macbook pro.

It's not amazing, but I am pretty impressed
with how it turned out.

*SPOILER ALERT*

I received full credit for this post
and the instructor loved it :D

Let me know what you think!

Should I be doing more of this
"vlogging"?

Or should I just stick to blogging?

(I know, that is just a wonderful pic...)

Happy 2016!!!

It’s a little late for a new years post, but better late than never!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
(Me and the Hubby before we leave for our party)

I normally don’t ever set resolutions because I firgured if I really want to do something
(or to stop doing something) I should do it
(or stop doing it) immediately.
There shouldn’t be anything magical
about the first day of a new year.
It’s just another day in life – there is not
wiping of the slate of 2015.
I’m still the same person, with the same goals, that I was 10 days ago.
In fact, the only slate that seemed to be wiped
clean/renewed was the amount of sick/holiday days that I received on January first.
ANYWAYS, you get the picture – I normally don’t do resolutions, but 2016 seems to be different. For the first time in my life I wanted to make a resolution.
WHO AM I?
I decided to write them down, because goodness, if I am planning on making them – I best be keeping them!

1. Stay Fit (GOT THAT DIME BODY)
Nooooo, not “Get Skinny”. I’ve long since come to terms with the fact that my body type is not noodle thin – its better than that. I have an athletic build with a big booty.
THANK GOODNESS the booty is very “in” right now.
Took people a while to catch up with my big booty trend,
but they finally got there.
So my plan is to continue my workout/diet plan because
for the first time in my adult life,
I am happy with my body.
I just need to make sure I continue to stay the course!

2. Socialize More Often
I have always been a very social person, when people are in front of me
My biggest issue is when I go home I just want to chill with the dog, cat, and hubby – read a book, watch a movie, cook, etc…
I am horrible at keeping up with friends that I don’t see on a daily bases.
Game plan: make sure I am texting more, calling more, planning more outings and dinners, and putting myself out there to meet new friends.
I think I’m doing well!
We are six days into the new year and every
weekend for the next month and a half is filled…

3. Make a Skincare Routine
“Whattttt? She doesn’t have a skincare routine?!” – No judging,
but I haven’t really needed one.
I am 26 and have relatively good skin so a lot of times I would just fall asleep without taking off my makeup. I would never moisturize,
and I hardly ever washed my face.
But this year I am turning 27, and I realize that I am slowly getting older L
I need to start taking active measures to preserve my face.
I recently went to the store to buy all the goods that one would
probably need to take care of their face.
I bought makeup remover pads, oil free makeup remover, moisturizer, and a night serum.
So far I am doing well with the nightly
skin care habit – and I feel like I am definitely noticing a difference.

4. Vacation More Often & Take More Pics
I feel like Ricky and I go on a decent amount of bigger trips but we tend to skip doing the shorter, weekend trip around here. This year I would like to go to Savannah
and the Keys along with our normal big trips.
Also I really want to start taking more pictures.
I feel like a lot of time I am moving so fast that I miss out on the beauty that surrounds me.
I feel like if I make a note to take 1 pic a day – I will be
more observant and might not miss as much.

5. Finish My Master’s
I am scheduled to finish my master’s degree in December of this year! I am BEYOND excited to be done with school and NEVER look back.

Those are my 2016 New Year Resolutions! Comment and let me know what yours are!

Holiday Photo Shoot

Christmas 2015, Ricky and I were talked into a holiday photo shoot.
It was a great deal because Ricky's brother's girlfriend (Amanda)
dabbles in photography.
I told Amanda about a great spot for our setting and we set a date!
Our appointment happened to be the on
the coldest day of the 2015 winter in Florida (AKA Winter's Day),
and the cold was welcomed!

Our first outfits were in honor of our favorite team!

Ricky is from New York and is a die hard Ranger's fan.
So die hard, that we paid an ungodly amount of
money to see the Rangers play for the Stanley Cup
in NYC during our trip in May.

Sadly, the Rangers lost the Stanley Cup to the
Tampa Bay Lightning, but we bought
jerseys anyway.

Needless to say, when we have the jerseys on we get a little crazy.

Now on to a few serious ones:

You can't tell, but we are both FROZEN SOLID in these!
It was like, 60 degrees...

It's not a party without a little champagne
and a few perfectly placed candy canes!

Skip these mom.

Get ready for the longest pour of your life.

Pouring...

Pouring...

Still pouring.......

And I smack his hand away with a candy cane!!

This was one of the most difficult shots! I almost called for a
stunt double.

"Life is like a box of chocolates..."

A pole!!!!

Our favorite thing to pose around!

*Insert cheesy saying here: something about looking back on 2015*

We had so much fun with Amanda and Jon during our photo shoot session!
Thank you both for everything!!
Enjoy!!

Over the Hill at 26

Monday is possibly the worst day to have a birthday - especially when you have
a big girl job.

Not only is Monday a sucky day for a birthday, but 26 is like the most
annoying/useless birthday. So really the two deserved each other.

Thankfully I have a husband and friends who take over
the planning of sucky days for me.

The day began with work :D
Thankfully I work with some pretty awesome people
who understand my love of Giraffes and the color yellow.

When I arrived at work I was showered with lavish yellow, giraffey gifts.

My friends know me well...
After work I drove home, got fancy, and Ricky drove
us to Flemings. Ricky even paid for valet - SHMANCY!

The hostess led us to a cute little table that
was decorated for my special occasion.

Even though it was a Monday and I had work the next morning, I decided
to drink the night away - it was my birthday for goodness sakes.
I started the evening off with a French 75 and told the
server to keep them coming - you only turn 26 once!

I vowed that 26 would be a new and different year, so I started off
the year by ordering an appetizer completely out of
my comfort zone - the Pan Crisp Pork Belly.

Made with creamy goat cheese grits and
dark cherry and sweet onion chutney
Even though the pork was a little fatty, I really enjoyed this dish.
I may not order it again at Flemings, but I am
glad I tried it and I would totally try it again somewhere else.

Ricky stayed in his comfort zone and ordered the french onion soup - which of course
was fantastic.

For my entree I ordered the Small Plate of the Certified Angus Beef Hangar
Steak.
I will order this EVERY time I go back to Flemings.

It was small but filling, and it came with a tasty slaw side.

Ricky and I ordered a side of onion rings to share.
These onion rings came straight from heaven themselves.
They where the perfect balance between crispy and soft, the
breading was to die for, and the dip was mouth watering.
I would highly suggest trying these if you go to
Flemings, but I warn you, it will ruin all other
onion rings for you...

Ricky ordered the 12 oz Filet for dinner and it was awesome, even though
the plate decor was lacking.

Don't judge this book by its cover!

For desert we wanted to try something a little different.
Flemings is known for its
Lava Cake that you have to reserve ahead of time (which
we have tried before)
but this time we wanted to try the desert with the
melted chocolate, the toasted marshmallow, and the
crispy graham cracker.

Dassss Right! We ordered the deconstructed Smores (which are no longer
on the menu).

I was feeling so adventurous that I even told the server to bring
out a good wine to pair this desert with.

He brought out a delectable white ice wine that paired beautifully
with the desert.

After devouring the desert, the server brought the check along with
a $25 giftcard and a homemade box of chocolates.

Dress - Francesca's , Shoes & Purse - Prada

After dinner we headed home to call it a night....
It was a Monday ya know!

Thankfully my birthday did not end there! That weekend
I visited Tampa with a few friends :)
